Avril and I arrived at the Hurley Riverside campsite mid afternoon on Thursday, thinking we would be nice and early. Ha ! There were five other units there before us. By darkness on Thursday night, nine units were comfortable set up and settling in.Throughout Friday more units trickled in , the last one that day, arriving just before 9 o clock (p.m.). By mid afternoon on Saturday we had our final arrival, giving a total of 25 units in all.
Among them were four families on their first rally, ten children, two dogs and a cat.We had funny old weather over the weekend with a mixed bag of sunny spells, rain and dull overcast cloud. Saturday night was quite cold, but none of this detered our Dandoliers and everyone enjoyed their stay. Visits were made to the surrounding villages and especially Windsor. The more hardy souls taking extensive walks along the nearby river Thames.
The flag meet on Sunday morning saw Sue Anderson scooping the raffle prizes (no change there!) and John and Sheila Pearson collecting the prize in the Really Silly Quiz.My thanks go to the people who were unable to attend the rally but still sent me replies to the quiz through the post. The Hurley site is fairly large, flat, sheltered and has excellent facilities, I would not hesitate in recommending it's use to any of our members and possibly holding another rally there in the future, our thanks to Bob and Angela who found the site.
