As new members to the club, I thought that I would write a few words about our first rally in Osmaston, Derbyshire. On arriving at the site, we were greeted by the happy smiling faces of Stan & Fay. They welcomed us to both the site and the club, and also got us some assistance in putting up our Dandy the easy way. On the Friday night we were introduced to more member of the Club over a pint and some vodka.
On Saturday morning we met a few more members who stopped to chat or "Dandy us" as Alan put it. In the evening we went to the Club "Bash" and enjoyed it thoroughly. I think the highlight was when Stan got out his "clean shiny balls" as he put it, and put them between the ankles of the not so willing volunteers. But all this was just good clean fun and we all had a laugh. On Sunday morning (still suffering from Saturday night) we went to the flag meeting and heard about plans for the Club, the people in it and general chit chat. Next was the raffle and low and behold Claire won a tine of biscuits, which incidentally have all been eaten - yum yum (don't tell Claire).
Later in the morning we had to have more assistance to put our Dandy down properly. All weekend we were amazed how friendly everybody was to us and are looking forward to seeing everybody again next year. Can we take this opportunity to thank Tom and Jennifer for helping to put up our Dandy on Friday, Alan and Susan for lending us some "fighting irons" the cords and helping to put our Dandy down on Sunday and finally to Senya for the now fitted and working jockey wheel.
