It was the last rally of the year and we were looking forward to it as Dave always like to make these a bit special. We arrived just before 11 am and were welcomed by Alan Smith and supplied with a hot steaming coffee and a seat in his awning, which is just what we needed as it was a bit chilly. It wasn't long before more new arrivals appeared so we drunk up and found our pitch. With an excess of 40 units coming to the rally we were never short of people to chat to which usually means it takes ages to pitch camp and this was no different. There was unfortunately a lack of hook ups at the site but we had the use of the Chicken shed( it's been refurbished as a function hall, Honest!!) so on the Friday evening there was a supply of hot Drinks , warmth,& entertainment ( Dave's account of his audition for "The weakest link " was hilarious) for those who wanted it.
Saturday morning was warmer but then that was probably due to the overnight rain and associated cloud cover. Alan and Sue smith had arranged a couple of walks around the local Country Park which were well attended despite the ground being wet underfoot after the nights rain. The evenings entertainment was "Dave's Rave" which was a music quiz( A matter of opinion?) punctuated with the usual abuse and a re-run of Bill and Pete's 2001 rally review. Even on the second oration this was hilarious, though this is to be the last one for a while which is a real shame as it's all in great humour though I do wish I didn't get as many mentions (my impersonation of Lynford Christie at the AGM will last in the clubs memory for a while by the looks of it!).
Sunday came and the season officially closed with the Flag meet and YES Sue Anderson did win something at the raffle (No change there then). We all gradually packed away though some of us took longer than others, but eventually we had to go. Roll on 2003 though not too quick as the dandy needs some attention before then!!!
