It was a pleasant June morning when we hitched up to go, though the weather forecast was not promising. By the time we reached the M74 we had come through a few showers, and now the rain was coming down in buckets. A timely phone call from Don and Oona Parker, who had all ready arrived on site, reassured us that it was dry and Sunny at our destination. Weekend rallies in Scotland tend to be quite small, and with only 12 booked for this one it was to be no different. We were to be Stewards for the weekend and when we arrived we found 4 Units already there and camped. The weather didn't let us down all Friday. It was warm and Sunny, and everybody got pitched without a problem( that is if you don't count the quiz I set everyone!!). It was great to see 2 sets of first time ralliers there, though I do wish that those who have booked and don't intend to turn up would let us know. We do worry if we expect people and they don't turn up! Unfortunately the weather was more mixed on the Saturday, but that didn't stop us getting out and about. Hoddom is a lovely site with plenty to do both on site and the surrounding area. We ventured out with Chas. and Senya White to check out a possible site for next Years rally( yes, there really is no peace for the wicked!!).
The Raffle was held on Saturday night as many people had a long journey in front of them the next Day. It would seem that the 2 Edinburgh couples managed to just about monopolise all the prizes, just as well that ours were all edible or goodness knows where we would have put them? After that we all went next door to the Bar for a chat and to catch up on our days travels.
Sunday came all too soon. We were all soon packed up and heading back home, and personally I am looking forward to my next Rally and my next visit to Hoddom Castle. I hope the other ralliers can say the same.
