We arrived at Wykeham with a sense of relief. We had mapped our journey but nothing had prepared us for the climb that was Sutton Bank. Well we made it as had a few other of our number including Richard Brookes towing with a Reliant 3 wheeler!!! Chris and Pete Derry welcomed us with with cups of hot coffee then showed us to our pitch. The site was excellent. It had superb grass pitches, well appointed and clean toilets, dish washing facilities and an excellent take-away which was definitely a favourite with many over the week.

There was plenty to see in the Area. Scarborough and Whitby were close by, and the North Yorkshire moors steam railway was an attraction not to be missed. This railway meandered through "Heartbeat" country, and stopped in some of the locations used for the programme's filming.

On site there was plenty to keep us amused. Pete and Chris had organised a Boules competition which took place over the week, and a Dandy drive housed in a nearby Inn on the Tuesday evening. This was very notable for the youngsters rendition of" Who Let The Dogs Out", as they made the short walk home, which was of course led by the young at heart Jimmy Wilson. I made my contributon to the entertainment when my  eldest son decided to throw our toilet key on to the toilet roof. Where upon I was seen crawling on the Ladies toilet roof to recover it, Honest!!!

The weather over the week was generally good, but we did have our fair share of wind and rain. The latter causing some rather large puddles, which managed to encroach into some of the awnings. Our members not to be outdone entered into the Dandy rally spirit and made model boats to sail in them???

That then was another Holiday rally over, but this year there is another one in Inveraray. Roll on August.
