Harrington in the Heat

July this year was universally HOT.  I  was really looking forward to a relaxing weekend, laying about in the sun, perhaps topping up the tan I had collected at the Cornwall Rally and generally doing as little as possible

Harrington itself had minimal facilities, with a fairly long walk to the ablutions, which were adequate.  However, own shower tent was  essential if you couldn’t survive without one

Interestingly the site was next door to an Air Museum  Nearby places of interest were Althorpe House, Rockingham Castle, Nasby Battlefield and Foxton Locks on the Grand Union Canal and the famous Inclined Plane.  So plenty to do and see.

Following an previously arranged committee meeting (time limit 2 hours, with no “ish”) I decided to be totally idle, as planned and had a lovely afternoon wandering about chatting to whoever was around.

The evening produced a Communal Bar-B-Q.  BYO Dandy-style.  There were several different Bar-BQs supplied by members which they shared with others to cook their own food.. It worked very well, and we chatted late into the evening.

Sunday meant a slow and steady pack up and goodbyes. My shower? Didn’t work very well, needs looking at and a slight adjustment. My tan ?  Well despite being very warm, it was muggy and overcast so no extra freckles, and no tan top up.  Ah well.Idle? Do as little as possible?  Well yes managed that!It was an excellent Rally.  And of course many thanks go to our Excellent Stewards, Chas and Senya.  This site had been a replacement for the original planned venue, due to events beyond the control of the Rally Coordinator or the Site owner.
