We
arrived at Elm Cottage mid Friday morning to a warm welcome from the
assistant stewards Ron & Kath Matlock, and were shown to our pitch.
There were already many members old and new there, and it was especially
good to see the previous members who had come along for this unique
event.
There
was a get together for everyone in the evening, though some of us took
the opportunity to have an evenings fishing at one of the local lakes.
Saturday
started of a bit dull and overcast but that did nothing to dampen the
rally fever. We decided to have a look at Harringtons the nearby caravan
centre, it had everything you could want for your Dandy and more, as
many members had found out. You just couldn't help but trip over our
ralliers onevery isle. It seemed that after that everybody went to the
Blakemere garden and craft centre, we probably should have organised a
bus!!
The
evening brought with it the excellent buffet, which included the cutting
of the cake to mark our 75th rally. Then we had a couple of picture
quizes. The first was a spot the rally competion which was taxing
enough, but then we had to try and recognise members from their baby
photo's. Weren't we all cute once! All
too soon it was Sunday. We had a particularly sucessful raffle with the
proceeds going to the "Breast cancer awareness charity".
Everyone then said good bye to friends old and new and headed
home with thoughts of their next rally. EXCEPT: Have you ever wondered what happens to the one or two who occasionally stay on after the rally? One this occasion there were 11 units that stayed on, and did we just keep to ourselves?
Not a
bit! We all gathered together and had drinks and our evening meal
together and what a gorgeous day to do it on. Roll on the Morpeth
rally!! Tom
