We arrived about lunchtime; the weather was cloudy but dry. We would have been quite happy if it had stayed that way as the weather report for the northwest was rain, with scattered showers and patches of drizzle coming down from the north, so we weren’t expecting much as far as sunshine was concerned. The directions were very clear so we didn’t get lost or take a wrong turn anywhere and we arrived quite fresh, mind you it is only about an hour away from home. Pete and Chris were dishing out the cups of tea and coffee and the Dandy was up in no time.

The campsite was very big, lots of space on the rally field for our two year old grandson to run around and play football. There was also swings slide and climbing frame to lose some energy on. The toilet and shower block was clean, and there was washing up facilities. This was a family campsite and every time I went to the toilet there was three or four children having a wash or cleaning teeth and sometimes sitting in the sinks to wash their feet after they had been paddling in the nearby stream, kids being kids wherever there’s water be it dirty or clean there are kids but they were willing to move over to let me in to wash my hands.

As the afternoon wore on the sun came out accompanied by blue skies and we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go to the beach, and then we walked to the end of the pier and got the train back, fish and chips for tea, a walk along Lord Street and by that time it was time for bed.

Saturday morning and we were going to the Riva/Dandy factory, Ian and Angela had laid on a bus to take us there. There was much excitement everyone was looking forward to seeing the new factory. We couldn’t have been made more welcome, there was sandwiches, tea & coffee and wine for the drinking of. There were questions to be answered and prices for this or that, nothing was too much trouble and when it was time to go they must have breathed a sigh of relief as we all piled back onto the bus back to the campsite. It rained all afternoon after we got back to the Dandys so we stayed inside and played with our grandson, but some members did go to Southport and I believe there was some sort of dancing competition going on that was very enjoyable.

Sunday morning was cloudy and quite cold but dry, we had the flag meet and raffle with coats on, lovely July weather. And so it was time to fold up and head for home, we must say a very big thank you to Harry and Sandra for entertaining our grandson as we packed up, we needed eyes in the backs of our heads to see what he was up to. When we got the first bed up and over and went to do the other one, Aaron was nowhere to be seen, we found him inside the Dandy sitting in a little space on the floor. Maybe that was his way of telling us he didn’t want to go home.
