Lingfield Rally

Fourteen units attended the rally at Lingfield in August. The site was very good with a nice rally field and we got a warm welcome from the stewards Avril and Jim Mitchell. The welcome sheet they gave everyone was excellent and could be used as an example for other stewards. They had also prepared a quiz for everyone to have a go at. Three of the units were attending a rally for the first time and they much enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately the site was directly under the Gatwick Airport flightpath which meant planes passing over about 300ft above our heads every few minutes. However as the weekend went on we got used to them and they did not deter from the enjoyment. Saturday saw people visiting a variety of different destinations such as Hever Castle (a jousting tournament was being held), Chartwell House, Tunbridge Wells, Garden Centres etc. The warm evening meant that people could sit and chat until well after dusk and it was nice to see the first timers joining in. The flag meet was very jolly with the Moore family winning the quiz and more than a few people looking embarrassed when winning more than one raffle prize.

The weather held well and all in all a very successful rally was held.

Well done Avril and Jim Mitchell
