It was a beautiful Friday evening when we arrived  at Argyll Caravan park near Inveraray. We had arrived slightly early so we could be there to meet the other members as they arrived, but there were some "early birds" camped already. By Midnight we had another couple of arrivals and the rain started. The next morning the members came in thick and fast( and so did the rain). The rain just wouldn't stop. The site manager supplied some pallets so we could get into some of the worst effected pitches without having to swim!  With the help of Jimmy and Anne Wilson we put on evening entertainment for the rally goers and that at least managed to get  the Holiday mood going. At last on Tuesday afternoon the clouds started to clear and we could get some sightseeing done. We took a tour round Inveraray Gaol, and the Museum ship the Puffin.

Wednesday morning came and the sun even put in an appearance. Jim Mitchell and myself decided we would hire a boat and do some fishing on Loch Fyne( it's famous for it's Kippers but I've never actually seen anyone catch one!). Unfortunately on that morning a Royal Navy Frigate was doing Sea Trials on the loch, and we spent much of the time keeping out of it's way though we did catch a few Mackerel.

With the West Coast of Scotland now showing the best side of it's weather system we were now able to take trips to Oban, Mull, Fort William, Campbelltown etc. The rain made another  brief appearance on the last night but a local Piper came and played the Bagpipes at our flag meet and chased it away again. All in all it was a good week that left us with many a great memory but if the rain had stayed away it would have been less stressful for us poor Stewards!!
