AGM 2010 at Wolston
With the previously received consent of the Musmagas Manager we arrived Thursday morning to find the grass had not been mown, as a result of their Lawn Mower having broken and at present being repaired somewhere in Warwick. There was profuse apology from the Latvian Groundsman, never mind less to be taken into or swept out of the dandy’s over the weekend. The weather a little overcast but not too cold, so we set about assembling the Destiny, putting on the Awning then a Check around in readiness for the first units to arrive early Friday morning. Sure enough just as we had finished our breakfast Friday morning the first of the 32 units expected arrived, then at what seemed 15 minuite intervals the rest arrived and chose where they wished to camp, and being adults obeyed the rules over distance, leaving us to hand out the various bits of information concerning the site facilities, shops, and the nearest Fish and Chippery, plus the information for the AGM and provide the greatfully received Tea or Coffee for those who wished. By about 7.00pm all those expected had arrived, so it was time to think about our evening meal and a Fish and Chip meal was soon at hand. For those who wished the bar was open at 8.00pm so that members could relax and meet old friends or make new ones. Soon Saturday morning was upon us, the weather was colder and wetter, even more so when I got to the outskirts of Rugby, the car boot was postponed so now to pop home and feed our Cat. Arriving back at Wolston to greet our day visitors, then get the hall ready for the commencement of the Meeting starting at 2.30pm. The Various Officers previously nominated were accepted by the membership with a Ballot being taken for the positions of Treasurer of which there were two nominations, and Lay Member where there were eight Nominations for the five positions. Sorry to those who were not successful on this occasion and a big thank you to those who have left the Committee for all your previous hard work and valuable input to the Club. When the AGM Meeting was over the hall was readied for those who wished to dine there on the very enjoyable and plentiful Hog Roast Rolls with Stuffing, Apple sauce and Crackling to go with there own provided accompaniment, with a vegetarian option for those who preferred, next to take part in a fun quiz. Sunday morning greeted us with nearly clear blue sky’s and an increasing temperature on what was a Sunny Rally meet and Raffle, thank you to those who contributed and gracefully chose their prizes on winning.
John ( Dogsbody).
