AGM Rally 2002

We arrived at Southwell Racecourse, this was the second rally of the year but our first, and the Sun was shining. The whole family had been looking forward to this since last Octobers rally at Cleobury Mortimer. Ron & Beth Bradford (who were stewarding the rally ) met us with beaming smiles and a refreshing cup of coffee, then guided us to our pitch. Dandies are very simple to erect normally, but at rallies, with so many friends to catch up with, it can take ages.

With the Dandy erected, after Dinner we had an informal Coffee evening which gave us the opportunity to speak to the people we'd missed earlier.

Saturday started with the infamous Duck Race. Ducks of all persuasions were paraded and then raced and nobody cared who won as we had so much fun. The business part of he rally was next, the AGM. It started with a minutes silence for Mike Turner who sadly passed away recently. We quickly got through the various reports and voting in of committee members .

The Evening began with another excellent meal provided by the Race course caterers, and the rush for seconds only confirms this. The Old Parrot Band then struck up and with the inevitable Dave Jones doing the calling the Dancing went on until 11.00pm ,I can only imagine these people hadn't had seconds!!! This was of course punctuated by Bill & Petes review of last year (Laugh I nearly paid my Membership fee).

Finally Sunday dawned and with the Flag meet came the regular Raffle and then all too soon it was time to go home. Friends all went their own way promising to meet at various of the years events. Roll on the next rally!!!
