It was a crisp October morning and we were at last exiting the M25. A couple of turns later and an Oasis appeared in the shape of Lee Valley Caravan site. It was set in the grounds of a large leisure complex so there would be no lack of things to amuse us( as if that was ever a problem at a Dandy Rally). We were met by Margaret Hearn and supplied with a welcoming cup of coffee and then shown to our pitch. Much of the rest of the day was spent catching up with Friends as they arrived and generally having a good gossip.
Saturday and we decided to take the opportunity to view the sites of our Capital City. We got the travel tickets for the Tube and bus on the site, and off we went. Once in the City centre we got onto one of the many Open topped buses as this was probably the best way to see London especially as the ticket included a boat trip on the Thames. Our trip over we returned to the site where Dave Jones had organised a team quiz night along the line of something they had done in Delft. It was one of the most energetic quizzes I had ever taken part in but also the most fun. Unfortunately Sunday came all to quickly and it brought to an end another years rallies. All that was left was the long trip home and the anticipation of next years rallies. Roll on 2000.
