THE MONTFORD BRIDGE RALLY - OR "OFF TO A GROANING START"

The first rally of this year at Montford Bridge was blessed with fine weather and all but one of the thirty five units booked for the week-end duly arrived to enjoy another Dandy event.

When Chris and I offered to be the stewards for the rally we thought, "Easy peasy", everyone would be keen to meet up again after the winter hibernation and that there would not be any need to offer entertainment, so we booked a room at the local hostelry and thought, "That's that, job done" However this did not suit our respected(?) Rally Co-Ordinator, David (I'm in charge) Jones and so we prepared a quiz for the Saturday evening "Get Together" Now I know that some of the quiz answers were a little bit unusual but why was I as quiz master frog marched from the room by D.J. himself assisted by Ricky Oakes when I had only given about half the answers? I mean to say, the question at that time was innocent enough, "Who built the Wrekin" the tallest hill in Shropshire, the answer to which was "A Giant".

Whatever, all those present groaned and/or laughed their way through the evening and as someone said later "The quiz was so awful it was brilliant" Was it a successful rally ? Well Ron and Kath Matlock and Jim and Brenda Reynolds who were attending their first rally booked on the spot for the Peebles week so they must have enjoyed their week- end which just goes to show how friendly Dandy Owners Club members are, and to put the icing on the cake, the site owners spoke to a number of our members telling them it was the friendliest and most well behaved rally they have had the pleasure to host and that the Dandy Owners Club are welcome to return at anytime in the future to Severn House.
