Probably the one rally that most members, who went, would want to forget.

It was a cold, damp and windy weekend in October. The Warden, yes! they were called that in those days, was tired after a long season. We all ended up with the idea that the last thing he wanted, on that particular weekend, was twenty odd enthusiastic Dandy Owners. The site had recently been “re-furbished” and part of that refurbishment had been to land drain the whole of the camping area where we were sited. It was criss-crossed with ruts filled with gravel, this didn’t help, and it was just a further source of friction and hassle.

The Saturday however was a good day, for those of us who left the site to visit the Camping and Caravanning Exhibition at Earls Court. Some of the group represented the Club on the Dandy Caravans Stand. The units were still there when we got back despite the wind.

There was no flag meet on the Sunday the weather was that bad.

The weekend goes down in the annals of Club History as the Rally where the “Warden from Hell” came face to face with the Demon Headmaster.
